Marta Gessler

The photo is a portrait of a self-made woman Marta Gessler. She owns a restaurant and is quite successful but it was not always so. In the beginning she had to overcome different obstacles and face the music. I like her chubby face. It seems to me very buoyant. I took pleasure in drawing her.

Figure study- the front

This is the continuation of the series below. The set consists of 3 picures presenting a woman's body from a different angle. This one shows the front of the woman.

Figure study- the side

This is the continuation of the previous picture. I explained everyting below.

Naked woman- face

The photo I found in a woman's magazine. There were different pictures of one woman from a different angle. It gave me a chance to study a female body. It is interesting that the body is not flat and having only one shade but the reverse is the case- there are so many shades that it is so tricky to capture them. I'm sometimes low on colours to finish the sketch.

Woman wearing a sweater

This drawing was inspired by a real person- a woman going through a breast cancer. Her face was very amiable to me that is why I picked out the one. Her story impressed me, besides I'm fond of people who experienced something like hardships in life. Their faces are full of expression, not dull but appealing. This is what experience is and what impact it has on our faces and bodies.

Sunny sunflowers

I wouldn't compare them to Van Gogh's" Sunflowers", though some think they are terrific. It is my interpretation of these flowers. They were not drawn from nature but on the basis of a calendar. I like yellow as much as Van Gogh did. Flowers are a very graceful subject of study, though I prefer tulips to sunflowers. Maybe because there are many species of them. That's all for now. There will be more to come. Bye!

Red poppies

They are as red as if they were specially for women's day. I don't know why I put them on show. Maybe it's because I'm fond of red energy which makes everything alive. I found the photo in a calendar. While preparing the work I pondered why I have so few pastels to draw with. Why don't I paint instead of draw. I could blend paints on the easel and achieve new shades. That would be fantastic, wouldn't it?

Haunting trolls on display

I feel like I have not much to say about the last table arrangements, maybe because I've made a short intoduction already. The one here is in grey. I find the glasses very appealing. It looks like the rays of light make them luminous. One big mistake is that I inserted 2 plaster statues which are unfinished and sort of make the drawing ugly. But it is up to you what you think.

Table in blue

As I mentioned below, I set my mind on drawing "table arrangements". One of the works is already on dispay. There are 2 drawings left. The one here is in blue. I like the way the utencils are knocked over and artistically put together. I introduced some changes into the picture. You cannot notice them but i.e. the table cloth. Originally, it was folded but I made lines in all directions. Thus, I learned to change the drawing according to my imagination.

Dying for a drink

A very strange idea crossed my mind. I made a decision to present a table and all arrangements on it. The drawings I've made were 3. Each table is different , depending on the colours and objects. Luckily, I didn't arrange the compositions. Surely , it was some artist. The result is quite nice. Drawing the pictures gave me the possibility to practise shapes and sizes. Each work is maintained in a different colour. Have a nice watching!

Iris by me

Above, you can pay attention to the iris in bloom. I drew the picture on the basis of a calendar. I have some remarks considering the work. To my mind, it is not as perfect as it seems. The drawback of my pastels is that they lack many colours especially violets. That is why the drawing turned out to be flat without the depth. That is what bugs me the most. But in general, the work is OK. Sometimes I accuse myself of not being as professional as some flickr users. There I can find so nice, unforgettable works that are breathtaking.

Cezanne on show

Today another presentation under way. Another Cezanne full of shades and tints. Another still life yet last but not least. The still life on show is named simply "Still life". You can admire the table cloth falling in folds together with the apples and oranges scattered here and there. The scene is so rich that is both eyecatching and stunning. Cezanne painted all his life and it was not until nearly the end of his life when he was finally discovered by a marchand. Practice makes perfect- so they say. Hard work pays off 'cause today we can cherish such masterpieces.

New Cezanne on display

I promised myself to keep that blog up to date but unfotunately I failed to do so. For a very long time I didn't log on but to my surprise I took up drawing a lot. Apart from de Lempicka and Gauguin I get interested in the art of Cezanne. I did 2 copies of his paintings. I hope they are sucessful ones. Above, I present his copy titled " Still life with a teapot". I didn't realize that pastels can look so nice. The composition is static and closed. I like the background of it, which is in 3 different colours. In my collection I have 13 new drawings . Enjoy watching. Good luck!
