"Balet slippers"

Remember, I told you last time about luxury and everything that is connected with it. Ballet slippers to me are attributes of toil, passion, hard work and the above term. To me they have only positive connotations. First of all they represent feminity. They are pink however the pink is not unified but its shades are numerous and it provides a 3 dimensional shape of the ballet slippers.
By the way pink is often ascribed to women and many times chosen by them as their favourite colour.
Unfortunately, I started writing this post and due to omisson I forgot to press the correct button and everything was lost. Recently, I've been a great fan of films and everything I watch I try to explain in artistic terms. Yesterday I saw The film "A touch of love" with M. Sorvino and V. Kilmer. There is lots of things to talk about this film however I want to focus on art which is somehow present in it. The film is based on a real story. The man V. Kilmer is blind and meets a young , female architect M. Sorvino. They fall in love and live with each other. He decides on an operation of his eyes. He undergoes it, recovers his eyesight but not for long. In the end we find out that the man though blind starts painting his impressions as a heathy man. The same is with M. Sorvino who marries him and also starts dealing with art.
What is my conclusion from this film is that art has healing properties but not straightforward. It let you be yourself no matter what value it has got in other people's eyes. It is a kind of theraphy for you and for those around you. It cannot be done for profits only. The aim of art is self-creation and self -expression. That what is all about.

"Tools for making clay pots"

Here you can see tools for making clay pots in jugs. Actually, the drawing with clay pots and the tools come from the same article in a magazine on houses. Some time ago, I got interested in that topic a lot. Especially, I find joy in making small gadgets useful at home. That article I found particularly illuminating, telling the story of 2 young and creative artists who built a house at Mazury and organize workshops for laymen to teach them to work on clay. Last time I told you about black clay pots which are burnt in a stove with special wood. Here you see the second picture and the last one from that article. Unfortunately, the colours faded away and the effect you see above.
Have a nice day, Ela.

"Clay pots"

Now a slight change of the topic. This time still life instead of portraits. Here you can see black clay pots on the wooden shelf. I'd like to inform you that such clay pots are black not because somebody painted them but because of wood used to set fire in a stove. What I mean by this is that wood of pine tree which is 300 years old is used here. This is the effect . That was about the method and now about the drawing. Here I used ink and soft pastel. Thanks to ink black is very deep and pastel gives reflections on the pots. I'm not entirely pleased with the result. I think that oil pastel would be better with the drawing. Its colours don't fade away and if they are too striking you can make it milder with terpentine. However, my problem is to get such oil pastels which won't be too vivid, 'cause I'd like to achieve delicate, sort of pastel like reflections.
Have a nice day, Ela.

Haunting trolls on display

I feel like I have not much to say about the last table arrangements, maybe because I've made a short intoduction already. The one here is in grey. I find the glasses very appealing. It looks like the rays of light make them luminous. One big mistake is that I inserted 2 plaster statues which are unfinished and sort of make the drawing ugly. But it is up to you what you think.

Table in blue

As I mentioned below, I set my mind on drawing "table arrangements". One of the works is already on dispay. There are 2 drawings left. The one here is in blue. I like the way the utencils are knocked over and artistically put together. I introduced some changes into the picture. You cannot notice them but i.e. the table cloth. Originally, it was folded but I made lines in all directions. Thus, I learned to change the drawing according to my imagination.

Dying for a drink

A very strange idea crossed my mind. I made a decision to present a table and all arrangements on it. The drawings I've made were 3. Each table is different , depending on the colours and objects. Luckily, I didn't arrange the compositions. Surely , it was some artist. The result is quite nice. Drawing the pictures gave me the possibility to practise shapes and sizes. Each work is maintained in a different colour. Have a nice watching!

Cezanne on show

Today another presentation under way. Another Cezanne full of shades and tints. Another still life yet last but not least. The still life on show is named simply "Still life". You can admire the table cloth falling in folds together with the apples and oranges scattered here and there. The scene is so rich that is both eyecatching and stunning. Cezanne painted all his life and it was not until nearly the end of his life when he was finally discovered by a marchand. Practice makes perfect- so they say. Hard work pays off 'cause today we can cherish such masterpieces.

New Cezanne on display

I promised myself to keep that blog up to date but unfotunately I failed to do so. For a very long time I didn't log on but to my surprise I took up drawing a lot. Apart from de Lempicka and Gauguin I get interested in the art of Cezanne. I did 2 copies of his paintings. I hope they are sucessful ones. Above, I present his copy titled " Still life with a teapot". I didn't realize that pastels can look so nice. The composition is static and closed. I like the background of it, which is in 3 different colours. In my collection I have 13 new drawings . Enjoy watching. Good luck!

Still life with lemons

This is my new still life. They say that lemons are quite hard to draw. I don't think so but my soft pastels failed to draw and I nearly lost hope that anything will come out of this. The result is nice. I thing you will enjoy watching it.

Still life with peppers

This drawing was prepared from a magazine article. It was about Mexico and as you can see there are many fruits and vegetables that hail from this country. I like the background where the ocean is depicted.

Another day on the web

Boats, boats and again boats like in the National Geographic magazine. I draw mostly flowers but this drawing is an exeption. I sometimes wonder where is this place presented in the picture. What do you think? I don't remember the newspaper I cut out the picture of the boats from. I had to focus a lot in order to capture the details
